Cecifoot Olympic Uniforms

Puma x Two Blind Brothers

Puma approached my great friends at Two Blind Brothers in advance of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games to collaborate with them on a uniform design for France’s 5-a-side, or “cecifoot”, football team. 5-a-side football is exclusively for athletes with a vision impairment. If you’re reading this and have never heard of this sport, stop and go to YouTube right now. What these athletes do is absolutely incredible. I had the honor of taking on the concepting and design of the jerseys.

France is a country rich with contributions to the visually impaired community including the invention of braille by Louis Braille and the popularization of the white cane, by Guilly d'Herbemont. In the home and away jerseys, we featured the phase “The Power of Instinct” (“Le Pouvoir de l’Instinct”) in braille, a nod to how cecifoot players excel at using their instincts to find their teammates and the goal.

For the third jerseys, we leaned into another French legacy: Impressionism. Claude Monet experienced vision impairment while he painted some of this greatest works, including his famed Water Lilies series, relying on bold and instinctual brush strokes to create his work. So too do the cecifoot players, and the third jerseys reflect the power and passion of their instinct.
